When do people have the most frequent sex of their lives?

It is a common myth that men and women reach their sexual peaks at different ages – men are commonly thought to have the best sex of their lives around age 18, while women do in their late 30s. According to a new online survey, as reported by New York Daily News, there is no one time when people hit their sexual peaks, but rather there are ages when people are having the most frequent sex in their lifetimes.

The survey found that men hit their sexual summit at age 24, while women are not far behind at age 27. This decade of life – the 20s – is when all of the men and women who answered the survey reported having the most frequent sex. Whether this was with a long-term partner or a series of people was not specified in the questioning, as the researchers were more concerned with the quantity over every other factor.

"It's a myth that men have a sexual peak at 18 and women at 30," says Sari Locker, the author of 'The Complete Idiot's Guide to Amazing Sex'. "There is no one age when a 'sexual peak' occurs."

The idea of a sexual peak comes from an outdated notion that testosterone alone is the driving factor behind a strong libido. But this is not always the case, the survey has found, as there are a number of other factors that go into have satisfying sex on a regular basis. As Dr. Hilda Hutcherson, a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Columbia University Medical Center, told the news source, social and mental function is just as important as anything else.
