Madonna is one celebrity who has harnessed her erotic capital.

Harness your ‘erotic capital’

Have you ever noticed how some celebrities just ooze sex appeal to the point where you can't even really put your finger on how or why? George Clooney and Madonna are a couple great examples. According to CNN Health, sociologist Catherine Hakim suggests that there actually is a rhyme and reason behind this seemingly inexplicable sex appeal: a little something known as "erotic capital."

"Sociologists and economists have long recognized three main types of capital: social, economic and cultural," reports the source. "Your capital depends on the assets and resources you can potentially use for gain, whether that means making more money or making more friends. But we're neglecting a fourth important kind of capital."

Hakim explains that erotic capital consists of the following: beauty, liveliness, sexual attractiveness, sexual competence, social skills/likability and style.

While most people possess at least a few of these attributes, individuals with the most impressive erotic capital have perfected all six of them. The good news is that most of these are learned behaviors, meaning anyone can cultivate erotic capital with a little bit of time and effort.

According to Hakim, erotic capital not only leads to dating success, it can also help people get ahead in different aspects of society.

How much effort have you put into harnessing your erotic capital? Ultimately, it could be the difference between a mediocre dating experience and a truly great one. Even those who are in committed relationships may want to work on this, as it could have a positive impact on their romantic and sexual well-being.
