There are dozens of foods out there that can give your love life a kickstart, just as much as the best warming lubricant or natural massage oil can. Cranberries are no exception to this rule, and we're right in the height of cranberry harvest season, so now is the perfect time to stock up on this fruit while it's fresh.

Cranberries are native to North America, and over the past several centuries have become a staple in the American holiday diet and as a favorite juice. But not all cranberry delicacies are created equal: Most of the juice is chock-full of sugar and artificial flavoring, as is cranberry sauce. To really get the full benefits of this fruit, you need it straight from the source, in its natural form.

When fresh, these berries contain wonderful boosts of vitamins C and A, both important for livening up your sex drive. Not to mention the basic health benefits, including antioxidants and fiber, of this superfood.

Cranberries are only in season for a short time each fall. Harvest is mid-September to early November, and with more than 90 percent of each year's crop going to the production of super sweet cranberry juice and craisins, there isn't much to go around in the way of fresh fruit. But if you can get your hands on some of these red gems, there are tons of delicious recipes to whip up for your beau, from preserves to scones.

So head to the grocery store and pick up a bag as soon as you can, and get ready for some fun nights between the sheets!
